In this issue is printed text [p. 3] of City Ordinance #53: "For the Preservation of the Peace, Morals, Comfort and Health of the Citizens of Carson City." Passed by the Board of Trustees of Carson City, the new ordinance prohibits saloon keepers from serving intoxicating beverages to "any boy or minor under the age of eighteen" or allow them to say on the premises. It also prohibits an "boy or minor under the age of eighteen" to "use or utter ... any profane, lewd, bawdy, obscene, licentious or vulgar language ..." The new ordinance also prohibits "boy or minor under the age of eighteen" .. to visit ... or be in any house of ill fame or house of prostitution or assignation house, or any house or place having the reputation of being a house of ill fame... or to keep company or be in the company of any lewd woman or common prostitute..."
Other news includes the decision of the Supreme Court of Nevada to uphold the convictino of Ah Sam for using opium. The "Defendent in the case being a Chinaman and of a race addicted to the habit of opium using..."
