Landscape format: 3-1/2" x 6-15/16". Rounded corners. Image size: 3-1/8" x 6-1/8". Now housed in an archival mylar sleeve. Some extremity wear & soiling. Estensive period, prior owner ink inscription to verso, "N. W. cor Broadway + 7th St. / Oakland Cal. / The best train just arrived / from San Fra at Broadway / Oakland on seventh St / the trains are long and / heavy engines are used. these trains pass our house / a third of a mile west / of this place 50 times / every day. You will notice / a "cow catcher" and / lantern on the back / side of tneder, as they run both ways so many / times, it would be so much (?) / to turn the engine round / every time that they are / made in this way to / catch "cows" both ways".
