The play was reviewed in 1905 by the Dickesian magazine, which Bolton quotes, "an excellent little comedy, which is, as far as is possible, true to the book itself."

Of Ms Pagan we know little today, other than it seems she made a cottage industry of adapting Dickens for the stage.. the advert following the play's text lists 6 other such titles already published by Dent, with a 7th "in preparation"
