The Girls' High School was created in June 1864 when the the city's first high school, San Francisco High, was split into the Girls' High School and the Boys' High School. The school, through till its closing in 1952, taught only girls.

Mr. John Swett was principal when this production of "Genevieve" was staged, and served in that capacity until 1889.

A nice surviving momento from this early period of the Girls' School history.
