Upon her death, Sayers, former Lecturer at the Library and Information Science at UCLA, was honored by that instituion by its establishment of the annual Frances Clarke Sayers Lecture series devoted to juvenile literature. In 1999, American Libraries named her one of the "100 Most Important Leaders We Had in the 20th Century."
