Hunt initially a somewhat close friend of Dickens, though the friendship cooled a bit as Dickens' fame waxed and Hunts' waned. Hunt was the inspiration for Dickens' 'Bleak House' character, Harold Skimpole, which, to say the least, Hunt found less than flattering.
