These toys, originally manufactured under the company name, Mound Metalcraft, officially became "Tonka Toys" in 1955. Popular ever since, in 2001, Tonka trucks were inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong in Rochester, New York.
Here we offer one of their early trade catalogues, wherein the mini-Tonka line is introduced... "These 'junior' size Tonka Toys are realistic steel models in fascinating minature. Fully operational."
Rare- we find no copies of this catalogue on OCLC, though The Strong is shown as having a single 1958 catalogue, 10 pages in length.
