San Jose: Pollock, The View Artist / Hurlbert Bros. & Co. Print, (n. d.). Ca early 1890s. View dated from verbiage found on card verso. Elaborate publisher imprint to verso, describing Pollock's business & services offered. 8-1/2" x 10-1/2". Scalloped edges. Now housed in an archival mylar sleeve. Age-toning to mount extremities. Some yellowing to image. Surface layer paper loss to lower right corner [image not affected]. Business stamp of M. M. Haas Co, "Books • Stationery • and Office • Supplies" to verso base. A VG copy. Item #47252
Somewhat to my surprise, given Pollock's self-proclaimed enterprising nature ["I Make Views from 20x24 Down to Postage Stamp Size. ... N. B.--Having our own conveyance, we are prepared to make Photos in Country at Prices as low as in town."], he left no footprint that I could find in the historical record.... not listed in Mautz, nor any of his images found on OCLC. Further, an on-line search of San Jose directories [1885 - 1895] from the period failed to find any listings for Pollock or his business.
An obviously rare survivor from this one-time prominent [or so he would have you believe] San Jose California photographer.
