These toys, originally manufactured under the company name, Mound Metalcraft, officially became "Tonka Toys" in 1955. Popular ever since, in 2001, Tonka trucks were inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong in Rochester, New York.
Here we offer one of their early trade catalogues, depicting their product line for the late 50s. Me, I was 7 in '59, and I distinctly remember wanting, though not getting, a dump truck [$3.98, p. 3].
Rare- we find no copies of this year on OCLC, though The Strong is shown as having a single 1958 catalogue, 10 pages in length.
