Hard Times first appeared in the US publication of "Household Words" issued by McElrath, who published it in such a way as to encourage individuals to bind their own volume, even going so far as to provide a cover wrapper. Harper followed with their own wrappered edition in their "Library of Select Novels" [cf. Gimbel A139], and then this cloth edition.
