From the Incorporation: "That the purpose for which said incorporation is formed is, to celebrate the admission of trained nurses to the United States Army, to commemorate the work of nurses in the United States hospitals during the Spanish-American War, to foster the spirit of patriotism, to promote a closer bond of friendship amongst those who nursed during the war, to provide efficient means for prompt and united action when necessary and otherwise for the mutual improvement of the members of the organization."
