This Carter publication includes material not present in the 1860 Appleton edition, i.e., a frontis of Nightingale, a 16 page preliminary sketch of the author, a cut depicting the Crimea award presented to her by Queen Elizabeth & a 2 page Index of the work.
In our experience, the Carter edition seen much less frequently than the Appleton.
