The Kohler Woman's Club was established and presided over in 1917 by Marie Christine Kohler who was the sister of former Governor of Wisconsin Walter J. Kohler. She was elected President of the Wisconsin Conference of Social Workers, she was prominent in the better-homes movement, the American Red Cross, and the Girl Scouts, and she was instrumental in establishing the American Association of University Women. Marie Kohler was also the leader in the movement that led to the passage of the Wisconsin Children's Code. The Kohler Woman's Club was known for its generous involvement in various community services. The book contains various holiday recipes for cookies, cakes, and candy contributed by members of the club.
