The complete works of Dickens, as published through this set's publication date of 1839 - 1840 [Sketches]. The United States' publishing houses didn't offer such until 1846. Dickens' own publisher in England, Chapman & Hall, didn't begin offering a Collected Edition until 1847 [cf. NCBEL III, 783].
While individual volumes of this set are often encountered, complete sets, as here, are quite uncommon. OCLC only records one complete set [9v], that at Yale, purchased from us over a decade ago.
