Illustrated with 2 maps, one folding [after F8]. Decorative initial capital letters. 8vo: A - 2O8 2P6. Full leather binding with period boards & modern respining to style. Modern ffep. Period ink ownership signatures to title page dated 1604 & 1656 [Robert Newman]. Anglia Heptarchia map slightly shaved at bottom [no significant loss]. Small tear in F1 margin; clean, closed tear across E8, with no loss. The occasional stain. Withal, a solid, respectable VG copy. Item #27904

Lambarde a prominent antiquary of the era, as well as personal consultant to Elizabeth I, in the capacity of Keeper of the Records in the Tower- this first county history of his is considered "a model of arrangement and style". [DNB].

And while this work of Lambarde's is not particularly rare, it is rather uncommon to find it in such presentable condition, textually complete & with both maps present.
