Massimo Taparelli d'Azeglio was a famous 19th C. Italian author & politician. His most famous historical romance was that which we here offer: Ettore Fieramosca o la Disfida di Barletta (Ettore Fieramosca or the Tournament of Barletta). The novel celebrates Italian bravery against foreign invaders, a common theme in his works. While all 1833 editions are scarce, bordering on rare, this particular version published in Torino is not listed on OCLC, nor in the BMC.
