A scarce parody published, no doubt, to take advantage of the Boz mania that gripped the Northeast with Dickens 1842 visit, concluding with the Boston dinner herein skewered. Dickens relations with his American hosts became a bit strained when he continued to press the copyright issue, and were exacerbated by his subsequent publication of AMERICAN NOTES which, felt by many on this side of the pond at least, portrayed the US in less than favorable light.
