Dickens, Charles [1812 - 1870]. BOOKMARK. Circa 1870.
10-1/4" x 2-1/8". A bright & vibrant Nr Fine example. A linen bookmark, with color print embroidery, apparently issued to commemorate Dickens interment in Westminster Abbey. At the top is Dickens' bust, then followed by his dates of birth/death. In large red type with lt Blue capital letters: Buried in/Westminster/Abbey/June 14th 1870' This is followed in smaller black type with a quote, 'I have always striven in/my writings to express/venerations for the life/and lessons of/Our Saviour [red lettering]/because I feel it.' An uncommon piece of Dickensiana.
